But everything is going smoothly when we arrive. The bus was waiting there as soon as we got off the train and the High Street stop was only a few minutes away.
But then- well- that's when we got lost.
ask the driver, and say you want to get off at the High St. when you get into oxford (there'll be a bunch of places that you'll pass before you get into oxford city center itself). once off at the high st. have brunch at Cafe Royal, we recommend the salmon and the scrabble eggs and a pot of english tea! bring a book to not seem too much like a loner. we recommend Marcus Aurelius "Meditations" (however if you don't have this, you'll be able to pick it up at the bookshop we'll send you to later in the tour).
Cafe Royal?
We search up and down High Street, which takes us all of 10 minutes, and can't find a Cafe Royal anywhere.
But we do spot a GRAND cafe and go on.
Jack pot!
The Grand Cafe is the first coffee house EVER in England (1650) and the salmon and scrabble eggs were absolutely delicious.
The coolest thing about this coffee house isn't the delicious food or coffee, it's this little contraption by the door.
See it?
It's a tea pot that swings up and down with the door! How cute is that?
Chris thought I was taking a picture of him and his cup of tea, but really I was enamored with the floating teapot.
Oh, it's the details in life...
