Fashion week invades New York but twice a year and the opening ceremony, if you will, is generally an ultra-exclusive ticket to Radio City for a star-studded "Fashion Rocks" music concert, but this year they've added another layer and taken the party to the streets! It's going to be so fabulous that high-heeled women and well coiffed men will open their wallets to full priced items and come away better dressed than when they arrived.
Well that's the plan anyway for Friday September 10, 2009.
Confused?
So was I- but here's the Inside Scoop. According to Vogue's behemoth September issue, Fashion's Night Out was conceived by all the major fashion heavy weights to boost the fashion industry that was heavily wounded by that little R word. So they decided to make shopping fun again (when was it not fun?) by bringing in a slew of fashion celebs like Isaac Mizrahi at Bergdorf, Adriana Lima to Victoria Secret, and music star Estelle to Tory Burch to literally sell the clothes themselves. But don't expect heavy discounts, which Anna thinks are killing the industry, because this is about "stimulating" the economy and encouraging people to want to pay full price.
And she went as far to say that Fashion's Night Out is to act like a stimulus package for the fashion industry.
Who knew the "Devil" had it in her to be a savior? Well it seems like rough times change people, and we think this change is for the better!
Here's a list of some of the events you won't want to miss: Fashion's Night Out
We'll be out on the streets- stay tuned for further coverage!
